At what age can a child start at Deerpark Montessori?

Children are accepted into the school from the age of two.

How many children attend Deerpark Montessori?

The maximum amount of children catered for at any time in the school is 22, with two experienced and fully qualified teachers working in the school. 

Where is the school located?

Deerpark Montessori School is located in the parish hall of St Mary’s Church of Ireland on the way into Howth, at the entrance to the grounds of Howth Castle and Deerpark Hotel and Golf Club.

What are the operating hours of the school?

We operate from 9 am to 13 pm five days a week, running from Monday to Fridays across 38 weeks of the year.

Are children allowed to participate in the school on a part-time basis?

We currently operate a five-day week (Monday to Friday), and children enrolled in the ECCE programme are expected to attend daily from 9:00 to 12:00, as the programme is fully funded and regular attendance is required.

For children not registered in the ECCE scheme, attendance is more flexible, and we are happy to discuss part-time arrangements where possible.

Are there outdoor facilities for the children to play?

Yes. We have a very large, safe and secure garden space. The children go out to the garden to play on most days – weather permitting.

Does the school participate in the ECCE scheme?

Yes

What age should a child be to participate in the ECCE scheme?

He/she should be aged two years and eight months on the 1st of September on the year they start Montessori.

Does Deerpark Montessori participate in the NSC Scheme?

Our Minister for Children and Youth Affairs has recently introduced the new National Childcare Scheme (NCS) – the comprehensive new scheme of financial support for families towards the cost of their childcare.

The NCS Universal subsidy provides €1.40 per week towards the cost of a registered childcare plan for a maximum of 45 hours per week. This scheme is available for children between the ages of 24 weeks and 15 years of age.

Does Deerpark Montessori cater for children with special needs?

Yes, all children have access to the school.

Do children need to bring a lunch to school?

Yes, a small lunch is brought to school each day.

Should my child be toilet trained?

Preferably yes, if possible.

Can my child attend if they are not yet eligible for the ECCE scheme?

Yes, if we have space, a younger child aged two years may attend.
